Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
